Synopsis:
This impeccable tale centers around the romance between a young boy and a girl from two neighboring villages. Rupa, a dark-skinned, impish lad falls in deep love with Saju, a sweet, pretty girl from a nearby village. They even get married but Fate betrays them.
One day, Rupa flees from his home to faraway lands, leaving Saju alone. Saju keeps waiting with the expectation that her husband will return someday and starts preparing a ‘Nakshi Kantha’ (Embroidered Quilt), where she stitches all the incidents and tragedies of her life. Finally, she dies. Before her death, she requests her mother to put the ‘Nakshi Kantha’ on her grave, so that Rupa will feel her pain seeing it. Since then the name of the field becomes so.
